National Eye Care Project

 

To qualify for the program, caller must:

  • be age 65 or older

  • financially disadvantaged

  • a US citizen or legal resident

  • have no access to an ophthalmologist (through Veteran's Benefits, or a prepaid health plan such as an HMO)

The volunteer ophthalmologists bill Medicare and private health insurance, however, for patients without the means to pay, the fees for the examination and treatment are waived.
